WoW

I have a sleep study comming up,and i dont take things for sleep, but tonight i wanted to sleep,so reading how it was not dangerous and confirming it with my doc, well i took bedadryl, theee capsuls to make 75 mg.

Now i dont know if this is even considered a lot, since i never used it,BUT besides a small drowsy feelin it is not doing a single thing for sleep,im still wide awake and it feel s like the drug is passing.

Anyone else have this non response to benadryl,is it common for one to have it?

It doesn't do a thing for me. It makes me feel a bit dizzy, and that's it.

benadryl actually makes me a bit restless. It does not help me sleep at all.

The sleep formations which are basically the same as the ones used for antihistamines I believe typically say 50mg. As for my personal experience, it causes tachycardia (racing pulse) initially and then starts making me drowsy up to two hours later.

I dunno about 75mg but I wouldnt take any much more personally; all anticholinergics possess atropine (belladonna) like side effects and eventually one could reach a dose where one is spaced out and paranoid.

You just may not be a responder for this particular side effect (remember you are taking it for a side effect, its an antihistamine) of the medication or a very fast metabolizer.

Hey willyee, When I got stung by bees working in the yard I took some. It made me feel tired but not in a good way. Certainly wouldn't have put me to sleep! Fondly, Phillipa

Hi. Benadryl never put me to sleep unless I drank alcohol along with it. It also gave me restless legs.

Yes, I have had nights where Benadryl knocks me out cold and other nights where it didn't faze me. On the nights it didn't work, perhaps I ate or drank things that mixed with the benadryl and didnt make it work as well.

However, it seems to always work on an empty stomach.

I find benadryl (as Nytol) works better at 25-50mg than it does at higher doses. Remember that some meds have paridoxical effect at higher/lower than normal doses (some antipsychotics, stimulants, etc). In fact in overdose antihistamines are known to cause paridoxical stimulation.
