I started taking cozaar for my HB 2 years ago and soon I experienced anxiety and panic disorder. 6 month ago my Doc. switched me to Hyzaar. The anxiety and panic disorder are getting worse. Then I did some research online and I found out it does have the side effect that causes anxiety which is not shown on the general information about cozaar. Does anyone have the same experience?

Why not switch to a completely different type of antihypertensive?

I had atelenon(spelling?) which caused impotent, I quited. I had two other ones(can't remember the name) and they caused me dry cough and musle pain. I quited. Now the anxiety and panic disorder. I hate these drugs and they solve one problem but cause more problems and you have to take more medicine to solve the new problem...sounds like a hopeless circle.
I am trying Resperate (a breathing divice) for 2 weeks now, no major effect yet but tey side it will take 4 to 6 weeks to see the benefit. any comment?

Hi V,
There are many different medications for high blood pressure. Cozaar and Hyzaar both contain losartan. If losartan is the cause of your problems (which it might not be), switching to a different class of drug should help.
Have you ever tried a calcium channel blocker? Amlodipine and felodipine are examples.
