I have been on Trileptal for about 3 days and I have reduce my Effexor from 75 to 37.5. Ever since I started the Trileptal I have had terrible night sweats and sometime tingling in my hands.
Would Trileptal cause this? I don't think I can sweat ever night.

I wouldn't of thought Trileptal would cause night sweats (I didn't have anything like that whilst on it)
>I have reduce my Effexor from 75 to 37.5.
Did you reduce the effexor at the same time you started the Trileptal?...I've taken effexor and from my experience and what i've read I would definately think that the night sweats were caused by the reduction in effexor...
Others may have some further input..but I think the nights sweats are effexor related ~ nothing to do with the trileptal..
Hope they get better soon..
Kind regards
Nick

Trish, I dont think u are crazy. I too had night sweats from Trileptal. I told my pdoc and he said it didnt have anything to do with it. But since that was the only NEW med I was on, I didnt believe him. The sweats have pretty much gone away now. and I too have tingling hands at times..
funny, pdocs dont know it all do they!!!!!

I still can't find any reference to eczema as a side effect of Trileptal in the literature. My doctor was surprised to see that I had developed it. It is amazing how diverse unrecognized side effects can be. It has been a week since I stopped Trileptal. I don't think it will clear up overnight. It took about two months to develop. Ugly stuff. Oh well. I really did find Trileptal to be a good drug otherwise. I almost responded to it as an antidepressant.

when I read the heading of your post, the first I thought was, "AH, night sweats, I bet she's on Effexor!"
does that tell you anything? heh. anyhow bottom line is that you can find a way to minimize it.
good luck.

I had night sweats when I started Effexor. Now that more than a year has passed, I don't get them except for during the few night before my period starts, when my body temp is highest because of the higher amount of progesterone in my system. When I'm late on my dose of Effexor, I sweat profusely.
I'm guessing that your night sweats are from the reduction in your dosage of Effexor. But I have never taken Trileptal.
Good luck with your new med.Colleen
