'sposed to be a mood stabilizer. But I'm so "stabilized" my wife says I've become a zombie. Not that I'm knockin' it, I can fall asleep at any moment. Question is, could it be I'm taking a bit much. 300mgs. 3 times a day.
I can drink a pot of coffee and fall asleep anyway. Could be I'm answering my own question.
Why do I need a mood-stabilizer anyway, I'm a lot happier when hyper? Or perhaps others don't see it that way. Can anybody give me some advice? cockeyed.

>'sposed to be a mood stabilizer.
Actually its not really.
Is that the only medication your taking?..are you Bipolar?
In all honesty Its not an effective mood stabiliser (anti manic) at all. It is pretty good for anxiety though and used as an 'add on' med like its intended use for epilepsy...
>Question is, could it be I'm taking a bit much. 300mgs. 3 times a day.
You could try taking 600mg twice a day or even drop it down to 300mg a day. I take this medication for anixety that I have with bipolar as an add on to another medication. I've found that its not really the kind of medication you have to take the exact same dosage everyday. You can play around with it to suit your needs..how your feeling etc.
The thing is as well...the less you take - the more benefits you can actually get from it I find. It even says in the patient information leaflet something about at higher dosages there is less bioavailablity of the actual drug in the body.
If I really need to sleep then i'll take up to 900mg in oneday. Some days if i need abit more of a clear head..i'll take just 300mg. On average 600mg does me fine.
If your taking it just by itself though for bipolar (I did for a couple of weeks) the chances are it won't be effective to control the illness. On the other hand - if you do like the stuff (i love it) it can work brillant along side a more proven mood stabiliser...
Kind regards
Nick

You might ask for 100mg pills instead. I know they make them b/c I used to take them. I've taken it for 2(?) yrs as an add on to deal w/ my anxiety. It seemed very helpful w/ at first, but it is hard to tell now-a-days b/c I have become so deeply depressed. :( But that has nothing to do w/ the Neurontin. I've heard really mixed things about the drug. Some people love it and find it helpful, but others find it useless.
Best,
EE

The way I look at it is that the success of one's treatment can be measured by how they function and how they feel. The important questions are-
Are you doing well at your job?
Are you doing well with your children and/or spouse and/or other partners.
Do you feel ok?> 'sposed to be a mood stabilizer. But I'm so "stabilized" my wife says I've become a zombie. Not that I'm knockin' it, I can fall asleep at any moment. Question is, could it be I'm taking a bit much. 300mgs. 3 times a day.
