BROMAZEPAM (duration of action, effectiveness)

Posted by sdb on July 18, 2005, at 9:48:21

Hi all,

Have somebody ever taken Bromazepam (darkhorse did of course :-)?

How long is its duration of action (apart from medical kinetics, studies)? Does it accumulate?
Is the duration of action similar to clonazepam?
Would it be possible for once day administration, without morning high and evening returning depressed mood and anxiety? Any comparisms to clonazepam, xanax xr?

Perhaps I can not respond to my thread because I am in a hard working phase for the following two weeks.

Sorry I have posted the same connected with an old thread but I thought its better to start the theme "bromazepam" new.

Thanks for your experience.

I've not taken Klonopin and hardly ever Xanax. When I took bromazepam I took it twice a day usually/at least. It doesn't feel too different from diazepam in that respect.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Have never taken diazepam, but a partly precursor of diazepam: ketazolam->diazepam->nordazepam. You feel the diazepam...but I dont like the feeling of diazepam.
Prazepam: not so good absorption, but after some time very usefull bz. needs probably higher dosages. Long time to reach steady-state.
Clonazepam: Most effective, also for mood stabilization, but blue, lethargic feeling, sex disf...
Xanax Xr: Only sedating.

Perhaps I will try clorazepate (better resorption than prazepam), higher immediate nordazepam concentrations.

I have heard bromazepam should be similar to clonazepam but without blue, lethargic feelings but even with stimulant properties (darkhorse, takes 6mg and its enough all day long even for the beginning of the next day. I think I will give it a try.

My current favourites are currently prazepam and in worse situations clonazepam. Mood stabilizers dont help me. Most time, I am drug free but when episodes (bipolar) come, I begin to take at least for 2-3 weeks.

All the best

This may not be important to you, but under the tongue it will work in 10 minutes.

Hi!

Are plasma levels accumulating by time or do you have to take two dosages a day for ever?
Darkhorse said (morning intake) 3mg would work 19plus hours and 6mg until next day

Hello sdb
I guess it depends how much you are using. I took it twice a day usually. If you don't have a tolerance what DH said sounds right. I suppose the plasma levels do accumulate and stabilize under doseage that stays the same, but then it will be the peaks you notice, (and the troughs when you feel like you need more).
On balance bromazepam is my favourite benzo, but it has been discontinued here.
