I have this weird vocal tic where i sometimes say nonsense things or repeat crazy phrases (like "I'm gonna kill myself") over and over. I'm not gonna kill myself, and this tic is driving me to distraction. I can't even work! My pdoc says it is not Tourette's syndrome, because I'm not barking or growling or something like that, but he seems to think it is something smiliar - "something similiar" LIKE WHAT? None of the zillions of medications I have been on (SSRIs, Abilify, benzos) have slowed it down even a bit. Anybody have something similar or ever hear of such a thing before? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I do this out loud. It's different from just plain old muttering to myself...when was the last time you started sputtering "I'm gonna commit suicide!" over and over out loud at work? I also say nonsense things, like "I'm gonna kill John Smith" (I don't even know any John Smith). It's totally involuntary, I never know when it will happen and it totally disrupts my public life. My pdoc says it's similar to Tourette's Syndome, but doesn't quite match the criteria. Any feedback?

The reason I asked is that I do that in my head a lot, like an upset child saying over and over "I want to die" in a high pitched voice.

i know the annoying thing you're going through. My pdoc says it is OCD, and SSRI's should slow it down. But for me, so far, nada.
