No, no lights out. Dude, I've got to give you the "it gets better speech". I am not much good at that, but my friend, (who evidently is the niece of Richard Simmons) does a much better job.

I am sorry if you are feeling suicidal. Most of us have been there. Please hang in there and go to the hospital to be safe if you need to.
I live in San Francisco and alot of people jump off of the Golden Gate bridge here, a thousand or so. A handful have survived, and every one of them reported regretting the decision to jump the very second their feet left the ground. Imagine that.

Please be careful here...we are not allowed to discuss ways of harming ourselves.
We are also not able to help you the way people IRL can help you. Perhaps you should talk to someone IRL about this question.

I think it’s not supportive to discuss specific ways of harming yourself.
If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.
Thanks,
Bob

Its ok to come here and say you're suicidal. Maybe somebody can help with that. But we can't help you with a suicide attempt.

No regrets,
Your post was a good one, and illistrates a central concept concerning suicide:
"Suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems"I would advise you to see a doctor, or have someone take you, do not stop seeking medical assistance, until you feel better.
Cheers

Not to be a jerk, but suicide is a temporary fix to a permanent problem.

I think _____ is a permanent solution to a permanent problem.
(I'm afraid of getting blocked, hence the "___" )

I think it is temporary, because its not something you have to live with for the rest of your life.

We shouldn't kill ourselves because we don't know what is around the corner...nobody does.
I think life is about exploration and discovery. Maybe life has gotten boring and dreary. Maybe try a little escape and try new things. Perhaps one will find meaning in life that way.
Dr. Bob told me that ODs are a bad idea because they can cause injury or death. They also make you feel really really sick BTW. So...it is not a good idea.

That's a pursuasive reason. It works for me.

Actually that's not the reason for me.
That reason is that I have lived a long time with myself and except for what one might call reasons of self preservation (avoidance of torture and terminal illness etc), I would prefer not to have my last moments associated with violence.
A couple of my good friends suicided and it is particularly painful. It's not something I wanna be part of. Anyway I'm 52, and when it's over it will feel like the last 20 or whatever years went by in the blink of an eye.
Our culturally determined expectations are too high IMO.
