Does anyone get spacier or more tired when they raise their stimulant meds?

no, i took adderall 60mg one time, i didnt have "stanima", but more mechanical things to do. Find stuff i want to find but dont care to find it.
MM Paul what dose of Rililin are you on.
Low DOSES actaully make me tired becuase they slow dopamine flow in the nerve synpase. High-moderate doses increase the flow. The reason is this is suppost to control hyperactivity, slowed dopamine impulse, but increase dopamine in synapse, so the only thing you do is sit and do.

ok thats not that bad.
i thought like 10mg, that really would make you tired.
Have you taken 40mg in dose. Methyphenidate is diffrent in its own way, it blocks the reuptake of dopamine, fills the nerve synapse with dopamine. Unlike amphetamine which stimulates it out and blocks 'some' of it. I have heard sometimes Ritilin makes nervous maniacs out of people.
Is your doctor "cold" when you mention another treatment. Focalin is Ritilin without the other isomoer, less tension, its like adderall compared to dexedrine, dex only has the dextro isomer. Focialin has the "d" isomer. But i hear it wears off even quicker, like 2-3 hours.
I would like to see you on Dexedrine rather Ritilin crap. i would maybe convice your doctor, it takes calm techniques and you have to compromise sometimes. Dexedrine 20mg i think is best for you. And depression. Ritilin aggrevates mood disorders.
Cheers.

> mattNervous maniacs ha? yes it can have a caffeinated effect, and sometimes causes nervousness. I have wanted to try Dex for a while as most seem to prefer it, I have a referall to a specialist, so hopefully i can try it. 20mg seems to be a standard dose? and its better for depression?
Is it really better than Ritalin, a Psydoc who first gave me ritalin said most prefer it, but he prolly just didn't want to script dex, i have heard it's smoother, and like a "caffeine less ritalin"?
Cheers

I felt much better on Dexedrine than on Ritalin, which was OK for study but not much else.

I think they feel markedly different.
Ritalin makes me much more "robotic" great if I want to stay on track
Dexedrine much less consistent effect and makes me more verbal,
clearer thinking, better at context switching but more distractable.A combination works OK at present.
Both can make me sleepy, especially I haven't had enough sleep.
Adrafinil combats sleepiness nuch better than the stimulants.

Methylpenidate blocks the reupake of dopamine at the transporter. Causing more dopamine to rise in the synapse generally. But the dopamine nuerons just "sit", this may be why this causes the zombie effect, there is not alot of impulse firing. This is the main reason why it is used for hyperactivity.
Dexamphetamine both releases and blocks the reuptake of dopamine. THis is why it causes more impulse, but at low doses it has a similar zombie effect on me. 10-15MG. A more profound effect, such as feeling to do something intresting becuase dopamine firing is increased and levels are increased. The usall dose is 20-30mg in one dose in moderate cases.
I do want to see you move to dexamphetamine. It may have better improve ment on your overall concentration and depression, methyphenidate doesnt seem to treat depression at all, actually i have read aggrevates, and increases anxiety.
Cheers. Take one step at a time

yes sounds more favourable all round, id like to try it, should i quit the Ritalin you think? it does have some mood improvement, but causes isolating anti social tendencies, as many have noted,

If ritilin is causing bad BAD side effects tell your doctor. And tell him what should we do?
Dont bring up Dexedrine right away because then he'll think, you just desperate.
Like i said it proably WONT happen in one session, go into detail about how it makes you feel, how it effects you, and what you dont like about it.
Say it doesnt help your concentration much, flat out.
He may start you on Focalin, take it slow, you'll get there.
Still take Rititlin a bit more and see how it really effects you.
If you tell him it gives you anxiety, he may just say lets DECREASE the dose. NO!
Ok, let be brave, and calm.
Cheers

Im scripted 80mg Ritalin, theres no Ritalin here on 10mg and 20SR Ritalin and thoes white 5mg Dexamphetamine tabs, Dex is used at half the dose, so i wonder if he would start me on 40mg Dex-probley not, more like 10mg daily? which i SHOULD be allowed to try after nearly 1 and half years on Ritalin starting at 10mg 2x day, up to 80 IR now.
Perhaps il say "it gives me Caffeine-like jitters sometimes and is their any other options"? which is true BTW
I did mention dex to the Psy who put me on Rit and he looked away quickly-so mentioning any pill is probley not a good idea, the Docs like to make their own minds up and be in control i'v noticed.
Have you taken Rit and Dex? what would you describe the differences as?
Cheers

I have taken Dexedrine 20mg before back in 2000.
A lift in mood, and alertness. At times it will make you more talkative, those doses are around 40mg. 20mg usally just brings alertness, and mood lift, sometimes it does bring a robot effect but not bad.
I have taken Ritilin when i was in the 6th grade, i dont rerember much, just sitting and doing some ridiculous worksheet, who cares if john 5 donust for kendra, 2 for himself and donuts for 1.50 and doesnt know how much, he must be retarted.
Anyways....
I hope that overtime it will happen. Be patient and dont rush it in one session. Eventually it will happen.
To the best

Take you to dinner parties, get you talking in the pub, make you more assertive, mix well with alcohol etc. A useful drug to have around the house, unlike Ritalin.
I think I saw pictures of spider webs done on different drugs, and the Ritalin ones weren't good. Since you've spent so long on Ritalin you've got an argument for Dexedrine.

I'd agree that dexedrine feels better than Ritalin. Less of the robotic thinking, better for social interaction. Sometimes I am suspicious that it makes my ADHD worse but makes me feel happier about it!
