Sorry everyone I should have posted this on the withdrawal board, but I'm feeling a bit desperate and I know more people here.
I went of Remeron/Mirtazapine on Thursday, I feel ok, maybe slightly anxious but otherwise ok
I tapered down from 30mgs to 15mgs over the course of a week.Whats driving me up the wall is the insomnia I'm experiencing, I anticipated some insomnia but I didn't think it would be this bad!
Does anyone know how long it will be before my sleep goes back to normal?
I have tried other sleep meds to help with the insomnia
Diphenihydramine (Nytol) doesn't work on me anymore, I've developed such a tolerance
Trazadone nocked me out but I felt so ill the next dayMy GP will not prescribe hypnotics like Zoplicone, that the UK for you!

If you mean how long will the insomnia last until the remeron kicks in they told me that at l5mg it's supposed to be sedating. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi Tom,
>Diphenihydramine (Nytol) doesn't work on me anymore........
Have you ever tried promethazine (Sominex, Phenergan Nightime)? You can buy it from a pharmacy without a prescription. I'm not sure it'll help though, especially since Nytol didn't help. I think it would help to taper the Remeron more gradually.
Kind regards,
Ed.

I think I will give promethazine a try, sounds like it could be good for sleep.
I seem to be doing ok of the Mirtaz appart from insomnia.

Hi Tom!
I hope it helps :-) I don't like it personally, it gives me mild akathisia! Promethazine is a potent antihistamine.....and also a weak dopamine antagonist - hence the akathisia. Promethazine has a longer duration of action than diphenhydramine, it lasts toooo long for my liking.
Kind regards,
Ed.

Diphenhydramine doesn't make me restless, it just makes me feel like cr*p! Did all these drugs cause you the same restless feeling? Which was the worst?

All about equal. Maybe the worst was trazadone. Paxil did it too. Just my legs could not be still. I had to kick them and jerk them. It was awful.Marsha
