Trivastal/Piribedil Any Experiences?

Posted by The Resistance on May 4, 2005, at 4:57:08

Sukarno brought this drug to my attention

Its a non ergot dopamine agonist which also effects Noradrenaline.
Apparently it can help attention problems.

It sounds very interesting, has anyone tried it?

Yupp Im using it. Is is very activating, motivates me like 2 drinks of coffee, I sleep less, have MUCH higher libido. The only problem is anxiety with this drug, I need benzos to calm me down.
I take around 100-150mg/day

Interesting. What about cabergoline? Any ideas? Bromocriptine's no good for my sinuses.

The drug sounds good but the anxiety does not!
How does it feel?
Is it more like caffein or amfetamines?

Any side-effects or contraindications?

I'd love to hear more about your experiences with Piribedil

Anxiety is pretty much the only side-effect.
Hmm what else would you like to know?

Duration of effect? Any withdrawal or "crashing" on discontinuation?

Any idea how it compares to Ritalin or the amphetamines as therapy for ADHD?

Any interactions? (selegiline and/or reboxetine, for example) Alcohol?

Side effects; such as insomnia, palpitations or other adrenergic effects?

You mention you use a benzo to conteract the anxiety. Are you naturally anxious? I'm guessing from your handle you suffer from social anxiety... Are you on any other medications at the moment?

I hope I haven't overwhelmed you with questions -- thanks for any help you can provide.

I have a good deal of personal experience w/ Nardil and Parnate if you have any questions for me.

Thanks!

Well, it started working after a week and there are no ups/downs.

> Any idea how it compares to Ritalin or the amphetamines as therapy for ADHD?

Definitely amphetamine is better for ADHD, Ritalin for me is worse. Trivastal...hmm..I dont think it would be good for ADHD, just my opinion.

> Any interactions? (selegiline and/or reboxetine, for example) Alcohol?

No alcohol interactions (I drink almost every day). Havent tried with selegiline/reboxetine.

> Side effects; such as insomnia, palpitations or other adrenergic effects?

At first I had heart palpitations and higher BP but it is normal now.

Actually Im still seeking for some med to treat my primary condition which is one you mention: social anxiety. Trivastal makes me little more confident but still anxious. And yes, im naturally anxious.

No problem ;-)

I hope I will have a chance to try one of those (or both) meds soon. It will be hard though, because they arent registered in my country.

Take care

Thanks for the feedback. I too prefer amphetamine for ADHD, but the only psychiatrist in town is more concerned with her ego than my welfare and has never heard of Desoxyn, which I've used successfully for years (at a very small dose, too; I might add). Consequently, I'm considering augmenting Ritalin w/ Piribedil just to see what happens. Other amphetamines have too many peripheral side effects to tolerate.

Nardil should work wonders for the SA, but you may have to forego orgasms. Parnate is better in that regard, but not so widely used for SA.

In either event, in order to reach therapeutic levels I've found it necessary to ramp up the dosage beyond the norm and THEN titrate downwards to reach a steady state. In the case of Nardil, I believe I'd get up to 5 x 15 mg/day, stay at that for a week, then work down to 3 x 15mg/day.

I hope you can give the MAOIs a fair trial sometime soon. You will have to give them at least a month to kick in, so don't expect an overnight miracle.

Best of luck to you!

I hope I will have a chance to try Parnate soon. And if that doesnt work - Nardil.

You too!!!
Take care!

I'm on day 15 of a piribedil trial at 50 mg twice a day. I also take reboxetine at 2 mg twice a day.

My mood improved after week 1, my motivation is up and my drinking is way down.

No side effects to speak of, though it does potentiate caffeine to some extent.

I love this stuff.

I should also mention it potentiates the hell out of Ritalin.

I've taken my little 5 mg dose maybe once this week.

Trivastal vs. Survector

How would you compare Trivastal with Survector (amineptine)?

Does Trivastal cause more anxiety than Survector?

By the way, this is another product of Servier. :-)
Servier's products seem to be underrated and never make it to the US. They must be terrible at marketing or maybe they don't care about the US market. hmm..

I got some Trivastal fromm bbonlinepharmacy and I have not notice any energizing effects. Does anyone have any expeience with this pharmacy? Also does anyone know a pharmacy that not only sells Trivastal affordably but also will have authentic products?
