Hi J,
>maybe it will help (it does not)
Well, I suppose you will at least have given it a full trial. Let me know how it goes :-)
Kind regards,
Ed.

Jeroen, You could ask the doctor. Have you told him that you want to try seroquel? Fondly, Phillipa

Hi J,
I really think it's time to switch to Seroquel. Perhaps you could discuss it with your doctor next week :-)
Kind regards,
Ed.

its been 2 week on 20 mg of zyprexa
my doc sais i need to be atleast 1 month on it for its effect
after that if zyprexa dont work for me i will ask for Seroquel
i felt ok already the first days on seroquel, zyprexa DOESNT
should i try the schizophrenia dosage of seroquel or low dose 100 mg?
ive read 400 mg of seroquel can mask TD, i know someone whos TD reversed at this dosage
please can you tell me what i should do?

Hi J!
>taking 400 mg will turn me into a zombie, i already tryed that.......
I know........but you suddenly took 400mg out of the blue! If you work your way up to a higher dose you might never get such bad side effects. Anyway, you might not need as much as 400mg :-)
>my doc sais i need to be atleast 1 month on it for its effect.......
OK, perhaps you should wait 2 more weeks on Zyprexa. If it doesn't help, you could ask for Seroquel.
>should i try the schizophrenia dosage of seroquel or low dose 100 mg?
Start at a low dose and gradually increase. When you reach a dose which is treating your symptoms with minimal side effects - stop increasing!
Kind regards,
Ed.

Hi J,
>i dont think my doctor wants to increase dosage by dosage, he will immediatelly build upto 400 mg so ill be a zombie........
You could tell him about how good you felt when you gradually built up the dose before. Also, you could tell him how bad you felt when you took 400mg without building up.
Anyway, even if your doc increases the dose rapidly, the drowsiness will probably reduce after a few weeks :-)
Kind regards,
Ed.

There has never been a definitive, validated and widely accepted treatment for TD. Dozens of drugs have been tested over the past 30 years with mixed results at best. The atypical antipsychotic clozapine has been reported to reverse persistent TD after 6-12 months, possibly through gradual "down-regulation" of supersensitive dopamine D2 receptors. Some preliminary reports suggest that other atypical antipsychotics may also help reverse TD.

In reply to reverse TD with clozaril, posted by Jeroen on June 12, 2005, at 10:42:07
Hi J!
I expect that Seroquel will be just as good as Clozaril for your TD :-) I definitely think you should give Seroquel a second chance before considering Clozaril. Clozaril is more sedating than Seroquel, regular blood tests are needed and serious side effects are more common.
Kind regards,
Ed.

Hi J,

I don't know, sometimes drugs in the same class have differences that are not well understood.

Jeroen, I agree with Ed. If you tell the doctor how the high dose seroquel made you feel and that lower doses didn't cause this he will probably Rx it this way. Wait on the Clozaril. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi J,
It sounds like you had another panic (anxiety) attack. Tranxene can be helpful for panic attacks but you might still have them occasionally. Get checked out by your doctor for other causes of a racing heart. I hope your psych doctor will let you try Seroquel :-)
Kind regards,
Ed.

ive just read on a website that medication can make someone psychotic. read here again GEODON CAUSED IT WITH A PERSON!!!!!
http://www.pmulcahy.com/misc_pages/my_thoughts_on_mental_illness.html
seroquel makes me feel good but what about the psychotic thing i experienced with it? propably because i took it only once a day
The Geodon made me psychotic. Hallucinations were more severe than ever, paranoia was extreme, and with what little was left of my sanity, I stopped the medication cold turkey, and refused to see the doctor. As the paranoia subsided, I eventually saw Dr. Penny again, and he put me on what I am on now, a combination of Risperdal and Celexa. The Risperdal is sedating only to a slightly lesser degree than the Loxitane, and I generally sleep 12-14 hours a day. The Celexa caused gas and cramps the first month I took it, but then went away. My weight (I lost the additional 50 pounds within 3 months after stopping the Valproic Acid), I put on 9 pounds, but now my weight has stabilized.

You haven't taken any Geodon for a long time. I don't think its the cause. I suppose it's a possibility though. I don't know...

Did it cause hallucinations, delusions or paranoia?
