I have tried ever SSRI for anxiety/depression. Nothing worked. Pdoc put me on Lamictal three days ago. Unable to calm down. Call pdoc tonight and prescribed Seroquel, too.
Anyone have any experiences of both?

What are you using each med for?

Well, they said the Lamictal would lift my depression and even me out, while Seroquel would help with the anxiety and sleep. I know every med affects everyone differently, but that's what I hope for ... any thoughts?

I think it could possibly work, but it would make more sense to me to try one at a time rather than both. I'd go with the Seroquel first, because that works faster and also has some antidepressant and mood stabilizing properties. Why Lamictal? You may have mentioned a reason, I'm not sure, but there are lots of other antidepressants if you aren't bipolar. Although Lamictal probably can work for nonbipolar depression, it's much more commonly used for bipolar. Do you have severe mood swings or bipolarish symptoms (agitation, irritability, activation, racing thoughts, etc)?

Yes, the Lamictal should do that. In my case it made me more depressed and it has happened to others as well. Give it a go and see. Don't try both meds at once though as Yesac mentioned. But I would be inclined to try the Lamictal first and then the Seroquel (Yesac thought it would be better the other way around). I don't know, I just think anti-psychotics are prescribed too often especially Seroquel. And Seroquel can knock you out. :-) Maybe you should look into cognitive behaviour therapy for the anxiety.

Seroquel will knock you slam out. Maybe small doses would avoid that. Fondly, Phillipa

Oh my it knocked me out. Calmed me down. And I only took 25 mg. I was the first med in eight years that I have taken for anxiety that actually nailed it. I know it is just one day, but one day gives me hope.

I want to dump the Lamictal. Only been on it three days. Surely it hasn't been the med affecting me?

The lamictal you have titrate in 25 mg every two week (or one week). It would have had the change to have an effect because I am sure you are only at 25 mg. Why don't you see how it goes at higher dosage.

I cannot up the dose of Lamictal for two weeks because you have to go slow on it.
By the way, do you have AIM?

I use to use AIM, but I don't remember my ID or password. I can reset though. I'll let you know when I do. :-)
