some kind of test to see what ssri you need?

Posted by maggie1970 on June 5, 2005, at 12:54:59

Isn't there some kind of test a doctor can do to see what chemical in your brain you may be lacking? Or whatever needs to be balanced? If so, can anyone tell me what it is called? Who does it, a regular doc, or the med shrink?
I'm at my whit's end and need something soon to balance me out!
Thanks, Maggie

As a matter of fact there is. Check out this site:

I only know about them because I had an interview with them a few months back. It is a very new area so I don't know how accurate it is.

If you have anyone in you family who is taking an AD, chances are you will respond well to that one as well.

Since you are having so much trouble you really should have a psyhiatrist manage your meds and they are more experienced that regular doctors. They can come up with different combos etc.

Let us know the outcome! And in the meantime, be gentle with yourself as you are going through a rough period. There is a solution out there somewhere. It just may take some time to find it. Oh, and make sure your doctor has checked your thyroid in case you have a problem there. It mimics depression.

What about the rEEG? There's a thread here about it and several sites listed if you Google it.
