I have anxiety/depression. My doc put me on Lamictal today. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Yeah...I was on it roughly a year ago, along with Paxil. It seemed to augment the antidepressant and anxiolytic properties of the Paxil, the latter to a lesser extent. I'm sure your pdoc has already consulted you about the possible risk of developing a serious rash while on Lamictal, so I won't even touch the subject.

Did it do anything to lift your mood?

Yeah. Then one morning my mom caught my getting high, and had me hospitalized where they determined it wasn't working and replaced it with Depakote. It sucks in comparison.

Hi. A lot of people use Lamictal successfully as monotherapy for depression. I hope it helps you. It made me more depressed, but I always have weird reactions to meds. :-)

I am confused. Was the medicine making you high?

yes, it did help with my anxiety. I am on 300mg which I take all at night. I sleep great on it. I have OCD, high anxiety, as well as depression and lamictal has changed my life. No side effects, a little agitated at first but wore off, had to go up slowly as I am sure you know because of the rash. I am even thinking about getting a tattoo of a lamictal pill! Please let me know of your progress,

The Lamictal? No...I should have made that clear. I apologize.

Mogger, how long did it take for the Lamictal to kick in? I've been on it four days and can't really tell yet. In fact, I panicked and now my pdoc is going to put me on Seroquel, also. Any thoughts

did take me a little while, 3 weeks to 4 weeks to get a big enough dose to help, unfortunately it didn't straight away but it was worth the wait for me. What dose are you at? Hang in there, I totally know what you are going through as I have terrible anxiety/ocd, do what ever you can to keep busy. I am on 300mg.

I was still raging with my thougths and anxiety and my pdoc called me in a presciption for Seroquel 25 mg. Oh my, it knocked me out, and when I awoke, it nailed my anxiety. You ought to think about it. Im still taking the Lamictal tho.

It made me very tired. However the 25mg of zoloft I was also taking might have elevated my plasma level. It was a mixed bag, but overall I did not find it impressive.
