Help...Its been about a week now that I have not taken my prozac. I have taken my others meds, trileptal and lamictal, but not the prozac. I dont feel that bad, but I know its not good to stop a med cold turkey. I go to the pdoc next week. What should I do, start taking them again? Or just wait to see what he has to say?

I don't advise stopping any of these mind altering medications cold turkey. I think it's best to taper them based on what your pdoc advises. If he/she feels like you're doing well enough to stop taking the Prozac, then he/she will give you instuctions on tapering so you can eventually be off Prozac.
Hope this helps...best of luck to you!

> SThere's a possibility that the Trileptal is buffering any withdrawal reaction that would otherwise occur. Wishful thinking on my part...
Of course, Prozac has such a long half-life, it is difficult to predict how long after the discontinuation of the drug that the withdrawal syndrome might appear. If I were in your position at the moment, and I were committed to discontinue Prozac, I would wait and see. It wouldn't hurt to take just one more 10-20mg dose. If significant withdrawal symptoms appear later, you can just take single 5-10mg doses as a PRN as needed - just like aspirin for a headache. Prozac is a drug that you can skip days as part of a discontinuation strategy.
If you have any more questions about withdrawal, you can ask them on the Withdrawal board.
Don't sweat it.

> SI would start taking it again and not worry about it. OR see how you do without it. I went cold turkey off 80 mg of Prozac and had no withdrawal because the half-life is 5 weeks. You might not need the Prozac since Lamictal acts as an antidepressant.

Five weeks! Wow! No wonder the pdoc told my daughter not to worry if she skipped a dose. She just stopped taking 20mg cold turkey. But she only took it for a short while. Fondly, Phillipa
