I have been on cymbalta 60 mgs for about 3 months. Less depressed, minimum anxiety, but tired and no motivation. Tried taking it at bedtime, but no sleep. Foggy too. Added wellbutrin about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago-150 XL and still tired (more so,I think), and no motivation. Take it at night and sleep well. Now,whether to increase cymbalta and chance increase in anxiety, or increase wellbutrin. (wellbutrin makes my ears ring).
In all these years, I need *motivation*!
I only had it on effexor, but perspired to death and was a little irritable.
AND the MAOI's were good, but had bad hypertensive crises and didn't know what I had eaten sometimes.
I really want to continue cymbalta/wellbutrin for longer, but it is hard.
Any help out there? I think I have tried just about everything.

I don't know if there is anything that overcomes the apathy and tiredness that Cymbalta appears to produce.
I have been taking 60 mgs Cymbalta; 300 mgs Wellbutrin XL; 40 mgs Dexedrine; 400 mgs Provigil; 15 mgs Abilify. My mood is good but I am still tired and apathetic with little motivation.

According to others on this board, Wellbutrin prevents/slows down the break-down/metobolism of cymbalta. So if you add Wellbutrin to Cymbalta you need to a) Take them at different times during the day at least 8 hours apart b) try lowering the cymbalta some. The reason is that as the Wellbutrin prevents the cymbalta from being broken down/digested/metobolized then you have MORE cymbalta floating in your system causing more sedation/apathy/tiredness.
Also you should take Wellbutrin SR or Wellbutrin but not Wellbutrin XL with Cymbalta.
I mixed 100MG Wellbutrin in AM with 60MG Cymbalta at evening and its working very well for me (I was 90 MG Cymbalta but it was too much apathy/sedating/tiredness).
Good luck - let me know how it works out.

I take 200mg Wellbutrin SR in the morning (with my Trileptal 150mg -- I'm BP2), and then 40mg Cymbalta in the late afternoon (and another 300mg Trilep before bed).
It's taken a few months to get everything all worked out, but I'm feeling pretty dang good.

If the wellbutrin makes me sleepy could I take it as SR in the evening and cymbalta(which keeps me up) during the day?

I don't see how it could hurt to try it. Are you sure the Wellbutrin is making you sleepy? That would be very unusual. (But then again, I'm one of those people who had to switch to taking my Cymbalta later in the day, because it seemed to make me sleepy. I think that's atypical too.)
This is the end of the thread.
