After 15 years on and off various SSRI's, my dysthymia to depression took a turn to total ADD.
For once I didn't have the despair component of my symptoms. After a bit of whining-not too much-- I got my OB-GYN! (it was time for my annual) to prescribe some Strattera--his idea, though from the paging through the PDR that he was doing, he obviously hadn't prescribed much of it--surprise to me, I thought lots of perimenopausal types suffered from ADD.Well short story long, this stuff kicked in THE DAY I took it, and I feel like a million bucks.
I've probably been able to say that oh ...twice in the last 20 years???
Side effects are mild nausea when I take it, dry mouth, and exhaustion when it wears off about 2:00. I expect that last effect to disappear when I start taking a second pill around noon.
An added bonus is that this stuff makes orgasms a EZ. I had read that if you're focused that helps.
That's my story, and I hope I can stick to it!

wow the day you took it? i think it takes several weeks to take a flip.
Are you sure you took strattera, or accidently took dextroamphetamine, hey it happens.
I took my adderall with out looking when i thought it was wellbutrin the first day on starting it, in the shower i started sing aerosmith really loud....
I was fine till about 2 pm, and thought i already had a AD poop out! then only to find my wellbutrin still on counter when i came home...
Anyway well i hope that strattera will keep you on the roll, i stopped it 2 years ago after 6 weeks on 25mg, nothing.
Good luck....
Matt

Have people on this board generally been disappointed with Straterra?

i have never taken a med for ADD, but I am considering trying it or at least asking my doctor. I am on Effexor and I dont know exactly how it effects dopaminine, but since taking it I defintely feel like I cannot concentrate on anything at all unless I have caffiene, I guess I need to be tested or something, but I am just curious aobut these drugs.

I tried Strattera and it helped me with concentration, but I couldn't handle feeling tired and sluggish. I am now trying Adderall XR. -L

My doc wouldn't prescribe it to me because of the recent liver damage release with Strattera. Maybe he was just being over cautious.
