It seems like everyone here keeps saying Ambien hands down...my take on all of this is that it depends on what you're looking for. Ambien, in my opinion, is a true hypnotic in that it literally puts you to sleep. Lunesta is more of a sedative in that it makes it easier to fall asleep. Obviously, your mileage will vary...personally I'd rather take Lunesta because it has more of a natural feel to it.

I've been using Ambien + Elavil for about a week. Yesterday I got a script for Lunesta. I'm interested to see if I get better restorative (deep stage) sleep.

>I took Ambien off and on for about a year and I think Lunesta 3 3mg works better for me. Ambien put me to sleep faster, but Lunesta is definetly more like a Sedative and puts you in a deeper, longer sleep. Ambien only works 3 hours for me. Lunesta for about 6.

>Yeah, I'm not waking up every couple of hours and looking at the clock. Without the Lunesta it's one dream right after the other and when I actually get up out of bed I don't feel rested.

Without the Lunesta it's one dream right after the other and when I actually get up out of bed I don't feel rested.I sometimes feel more tired in the morning too. I also take Dexedrine so that might have something to do with it. What else do you take?
