i was diagnosed with precocious puberty at age 4 and was on a monthly dosage of lupron until age 12. ever since i can remember, i have been depressed and very moody. a licensed psychologist says i am bipolar. my parents don't believe in mental disorders, so i have no professional help.
i was just wondering if there is any correlation between precocious puberty, lupron, and mood disorders.
thank you.

Endocrine system abnormalities are suspected being the cause of many cases of mood disorders. If you look up research dealing with the Hypothalimus Pituitary Gonadal Axis (HPGA) you will find a pleathora of information. Best wishes

I pasted the following information from Dr. Koop's web site. Show it to your mother or father and ask them if you can talk to your doctor about it. It sounds like you already received medication for the condition, but tell them that you also need help with depression.

Precocious puberty
Treatment:
Medications can temporarily surpress sexual hormone secretion. Some tumors require surgical removal.
Complications:
Children of both sexes with early sexual development are more likely to have psycho-social problems. Children and adolescents generally want to be the same as their peers, and early sexual development can make them appear "different". This can result in self-esteem problems, depression, acting out at school and home, and alcohol and illegal substance abuse.Calling your health care provider:
See your health care provider if:Your child shows signs of precocious puberty
Any child with early sexual development appears to be having social problems in school
