I am taking 600mg of Trileptal a day, plus 150XL Wellbutrin. My life has been very stressful lately and I've been having some anxiety. The Wellbutrin is a great antidepressants for me. My pdoc added 50mg of Zoloft for anxiety. Anyone have experience with this? I just wondering is Zoloft is the right thing to take for anxiety.

My son had a great deal of anxiety even after a strong Zyprexa (AP) dose. The 75 mg of Zoloft he takes helps him chill out more. Prior to starting that med he seemed ready to explode at any moment.

Zoloft and Paxil have helped me the most as far as anxiety is concerned. If I had to rank which one of the two was more helpful, I would say Paxil...but Zoloft had a milder side-effects profile.

I'm an MAOI user (Parnate), however in 2002 I had a few months' experience with Zoloft. It definitely did not alleviate my occasional anxiety attacks. In fact, that was one of the main reasons I decided to quit it.

When I was on only Zoloft (200 mg. maybe?) it completely controlled my anxiety problems, which can be quite severe. All the SSRIs have done that for me though.

I take a small dose of zoloft 25mg and I don't think this does anything to alter anything. Maybe I don't need it. Fondly, Phillipa

A word of warning TrishP, my son was given 25mg then 50mg a couple of days later then 2 weeks later was upped to 100mg. 50mg didn't do much for him, 100 mg made him groggy and almost as if drunk, 75 mg is the magic dosage for him and has worked about 2 years already. Don't give up on Zoloft, we chopped pills until we got it right if it does nothing after 2 weeks see if your Dr will let you do 75 mg.

I took Zoloft for a while and it was prescribed for Depression, but then my pdoc said he wanted to continue the medication for long-term anxiety. I do not feel that it worked for me at all with anxiety. I took up to 100 mg a day.

Hi,
For me personally Zoloft wasn't the answer, but I know some people it has worked very well for anxiety, and depression of course. Both Paxil and Zoloft highly disagreed with me so I was hesitant about any of the SSRIs until I tried Lexapro which is wonderful for my anxiety. Since I now know Serotonin plays a big role in my anxiety (Serzone was working and I thought only because of the Norephinephrine reuptake and because Paxil and Zoloft agitated me somewhat), I think it probably comes down to whatever SSRI each individual can tolerate and that they all can probably help with anxiety. I'm really stoked about this Lexapro though and grateful that it exists.
Best Wishes

I take Zoloft for anxiety, and it seems to work fairly well for me. It also has helped me with depression. I am currently taking 100mg per day. I did notice when I first started taking it, I was very jittery and nervous, but that didn't last more than one week.
Have any of you had weight gain on Zoloft? -L
