I'm really scared about taking this medicine. The side effects associated with the antipsychotics scares me. I don't want to be constipated or get dry mouth or tardive dyskinesia. Someone please reassure me that these meds are safe to take!

I think it depends on your Dx. I'm anxious with depression. I couldn't tolerate the antipsychotics. They gave it to me for sleep. Fondly, phillipa

I don't know about the new APs, but the old ones aren't the sort of drugs you should take unless you absolutely need them. I think they're awful, though if I was psychotic....

Hi, I just respondedto your other post. Don't be scared but cautious. I am on Geodon now and although a few of the posts from others scared me to death I proceeded cautiously starting at only 10 mg (half of the contents of one 20 mg capsule) for a few days and then going to 20 mg once a day. I am now on 20 mg twice a day and have no major side effects. Of course when youre on multiple meds its difficult to know what SE's are from Geodon or are from the combination with the other meds. It's not an easy road to travel but rest assured you may have very little side effects with it like me. Like you, I'm always scared when I start a new drug. I've had some bad experiences in the past but I definately know how long to put up with side effects now.
