hi all,
I'm back on the boards after being away for several months. It's good to read/hear what you're all up to!I was wondering if there are other people out there taking Lexapro right now. If so, how is it working for you? Are you having side effects?
I recently starting re-taking Lex for severe anxiety. I'm also taking Xanax until the Lex "kicks in" which hopefully will be soon. I've been on it now for 4 days, and I don't have really ANY side effects (cool!) but also the anxiety has not exactly abated. I'm worried that it never will and that my doc will not want to refill the Xanax for me.
Any suggestions?
thanks!

Lexapro worked real well for me, but I had to stop taking it because it caused the arthritis in my neck to flare up.

obviouslly not what it is intended to do

I hope it works for you

Lifer, how does lexapro cause arthritis to flare up? I have the osteo type. The only AD I tried that actually helped with pain was cymbalta. It didn't help with depression though. And unfortunately lexapro caused considerable anxiety for me. I was only able to tolerate it for a short time. Fondly, Phillipa

I take lex in addition to some other stuff. I don't have s/e's, but only a partial response. If you don't find it helpful, there are lots of other things left to try.
And I'll give you the same advice I give everyone. Go see an actual psychiatrist (if you aren't yet). A regular doc isn't usually as helpful, especially if the 1st thing or two you try doesn't work.
Best,
EE

I have been taking Lexapro, currently at 30mg, for over 10 months. I had already taken Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Lithium, Lamictal, Remeron and Nardi. While only Prozac, Zoloft and Nardil were effective in lifting my depression, they all pooped out eventually over a 7 year period.
Then I switched pdoc and he recommended Lexapro. Lexapro took over 2 months to actually lift my depression and it was effective for 7 months when it also pooped out. My pdoc added Wellbutrin SR, 150mg AM and 150mg PM, and in 2 weeks, my depression lifted and that is where I am now.
Lexapro's only side effect for me was insomnia, so my pdoc first added Seroquel which did not help, so he added 100mg Trazodone which helped me sleep.
Hope this helps.
