Can I split a pill of Cymbalta or do I have to take the whole thing??
I am medication sensitive (Especially SSRI) and don't want to take this med if I can't split the lowest dosage into two.

You can open a capusule and take just some of the granules. One writer on this Board is very sensitive and takes just a few granules per day.

Yes, just save the remainder and put them in another capsule or in some food. I read not to chew them as they are enteric coated. Fondly, Phillipa

Cymbalta comes in a capsule? I didn't fill the script yet, but if that's true that certainly is a difference from the other AD's I've taken.

My mom had some initital panic attacks when starting Cymbalta so I told her about opening it up and dividing up the little pellets (or whatever they are called).
Since she has been doing that, she has had no problems (other than complaining of night sweats).
Not only that, but one month supply can last her 3 months now.
Taking the whole thing was just waaay too much for her.

Yes, and they have said in other posts that you can buy empty capsules from a pharmacy. Fondly, Phillipa

Does you mom put the pellets in an empty capsule? Or sprinkle it in food?
I went to my local Target pharmacy and the pharmacist told me that they do not sell empty capsules.
Does anyone know where to buy them?

This is the end of the thread.
