Hi all -- I'd been on Effexor for about two years, for depression (switched from Prozac because I felt it made me too laid-back) -- and was doing pretty well until I started taking birth control pills in December (Ortho Tricyclen). Then it was like the earth's axis suddenly shifted and I became super-sensitive. Now I seem to turn into a sodden weepy mess or a screaming shrew at the drop of a hat. I'd never been affected this way by birth control pills before -- but I hadn't been on Effexor the last time I was on "the pill" either. Anyone had any experience with this? I hate myself this way. I'm thinking of asking my doctor if I can go back on Prozac. I'm hoping it's the medication and not just me!!

Oops, me again -- forgot to mention I'm also on synthroid for hypothyroidism -- for what it's worth.

I've been on Effexor for about 3 months and have started having frequent periods. I was wondering if it was related to the Effexor. I am waiting for results from an ultrasound to make sure it's nothing more serious, if not, my doc says I should go on the "pill" - I'm glad I read this - I will think twice before doing it!

Yeah, I don't know if it's just a coincidence or what. Maybe it's just me!! ;-/
Anyway, I'm really anxious to hear if anyone else has experienced this.
