I was off benzos 6 months and literally had to get back on, long story. I take 40 mgs of Valium, hve for a week, and the dr, extreme awareness and floating and burning sensations are about all gone. It was not about being tough wnough longer to me, was about staying sane. I never felt normal. I still have fear though, more than I want. Would it hurt to see about putting in some Xanax also? Do people do this? In the past it worked better on fear based anxiety but I like the long half-life of Valium. This is about survival, not practicalities right now. Do not have the means to sit home a few years in agony doing another protracted detox. Thanks.

I'd stick with the valium. That's a hefty dose. Xanax has too much of a rebound effect when it wears off in about 4 hours. I think that would add to your anxiety. Give the valium some time to build up in your system. Fondly, Phillipa
