Hi all,
Just got back from my doctor and said the Lamictal (at 50mg) was causing anger, rage, and crying spells, but since I backed down to 25mg, I've been doing much better.
He is keeping me on 25mg Lamictal and adding 300mg Lithium Carbonate to settle down the agitation/anxiety caused by the Lamictal. He said he used this combo a lot and it works better than Lithium or Lamictal alone??
Has anyone tried it? I'm not depressed now, but my anxiety is as bad as ever (due to Lamictal I'm thinking). He's also getting me off the 5mg of Paxil I'm taking saying it could be making things worse.
So, for the moment, I'm trying Lithium 300mg and Lamictal 25mg. He wants to up the Lithium to 600mg in a week.Any comments about this combo, experiences, support would be great!!! Thanks!

It sounds like an excellent combo. The lithium will also act as anti-depressant and keep your mood stable. Be sure to drink as much fluids as possible when you are on the lithium. You might feel a little nauseous at first on it, but it goes away.
Good luck!

I've read here and other boards where people had great success with that combo.
I hope it works great for you!

I've seen lithium do wonders for anger. I remember a man who had anger issues. He did drink though. When he became sober he started Lithium and within a few days all the tension was wiped off his face and he was so calm. I hope it works for you CK1. You have a very stressful, competitive life, but a very rewarding one. Good luck, I care. Fondly, Phillipa

your message is giving me hope, because our symptoms sound alike. i took 150 of lamictal yesterday and was in a horrible rage this morning just because i was running about 10 minutes behind schedule for getting ready for work.My husband left for work early;i was a little angry at him the night before and when i saw his face this morning,i told him i hope you die today and i didnt even feel bad about it;made myself worse by running around making sure everything was cleaned up. not that it was that messy;and i knew i had the next 3 dys off. but i had to have kitchen completly perfect. so it also is making my ocd worse also. How do i "ask" for that combo;without making him feel ? you know! BTW i was 15 minutes late and i didn't care. Ended up taking small amound of klonopin which i dont usually take {makes me depressed]it did help with rage.
