The biggest Anafranil fan here....
It helped me immensely with depression and anxiety and obsessive thinking. For me it was the only medication that I had a profound moment of feeling so alive and just happy being, not worrying about everything. Life was more colorful and textured. It can be a great med.
For me it pooped out unfortunately! But the downside are the side effects. For me, there were almost none, except weight gain, which is bad enough. But others generally have had more side effects than me, fatigue, orthostatic hypotension (dizziy standing up)...
But we are all different! I think it is very much worth a try!!

Hi Banga!!
what dose were you on?? would you say Anafranil made you somewhat euphoric ? ie you were motivated every day, happy with life, feeling close to people in general, and really happy?
How long did it take to kick in?
Did you titrate slowly? By how much
Did you take full dose at night?
Did it cause you to wake up suddenly at 4-5pm, because of its effect on stage 3 (I think) sleep?
Thanks dude!!!Ace

HI Ace,
> what dose were you on?? would you say Anafranil made you somewhat euphoric ? ie you were motivated every day, happy with life, feeling close to people in general, and really happy?
**I was taking 75mg...I cant say I felt great every day, but I had really happy days, with motivation and without avoidance behaviors due to anxiety. I laughed freely.
> How long did it take to kick in?
**I think about three weeks.

> Did it cause you to wake up suddenly at 4-5pm, because of its effect on stage 3 (I think) sleep?**When I started, it was immediately at a pretty high dose--in a semi-hospital setting via IV (I was extremely depressed, they wanted to get it in me! quickly. For me, I could take it anytime of the day, move up or down on does without side effects. BUt that is me--it just agreed with my body well. And no trouble with sleep.
Again, the synergy I experienced was a bit unusual..people tend to have more side effects. But you never know unless you try...and it truly seemed to help especially with the anxiety.

Hi Ace! I can. :-)
My closest friend in the world has really bad OCD and anxiety. She would wash her kitchen floor 7 times a days. Her OCD was more in terms of rituals than "thoughts". Anyhow she had tried Zyprexa and it didn't help. But Anafranil did the trick. She is down to washing it 2 times a day.
She did get VERY constipated on it and had dry mouth. She didn't experience weight gain. Anyhow it has helped her big time.
