I have been on cymbalta for 5 weeks. Went off Prozac at same time (5 wks ago.)
Has been going fine but am suddenly experiencing horrible anxiety.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanx

Cymbalta increased my anxiety from the getgo. I tried to suffer it though hoping it would subside, but after three weeks I had enough of it and discontinued. Some others have also reported it increaseing, rather than decreasing, anxiety.

We're all so different. At 60mg for over a month, I just felt apathetic. I went off of it using the slow taper recommended on this Board. I must admit though, I had no body aches and pains, and now they're back. Fondly, Phillipa

Oh god, I know about the body aches. And the Cymbalta definitely is helping - I take neurotin too which also helps.
Looks like I'll just have to wait and see.

Has it also increased your pulse rate and/or blood pressure? Extra norepinephrine can do that.
I attribute my incresed pulse (85 at rest) and increased blood pressure to Cymbalta. I take 60 mg.
But I don't know what to do. The Cymbalta makes me feel better and concentrate better.
I have had elevated blood pressure for a couple years. The Cymbalta made it a little higher. I am going to ask my doctor to switch me from my calcium channel blocker to a beta blocker and see if that helps with my anxiety and fast heart beat.

It definitely made my anxiety much worse, and I tried it at tiny doses for several weeks and it didn't let up. It could have triggered bipolar symptoms though that looked like anxiety, but I definitely got pretty agitated and panicky on it.

I was up to 90mg of Cymbalta and had to drop back to 30mg PLUS go on a beta blocker (propanolol) for the blood pressure problem. Still have anxiety - the propanolol is a low dose (20mg; any higher and I get weepy.
Seems like there is no easy solution, but I have to say that I'm not impressed by Cymbalta's effects on anxiety.
At the moment I take Klonopin for anxiety but it's pretty ineffectual. Good for making my sleepy. Sleepy and anxious.
Gahhhh.

WEll, I have to say, Klonopin does help me with the anxiety and it does also make me sleepy, which is great sometimes.
I think I'll email my PDoc and tell her the Cym. is not working and go back to the PZac. I felt depressed periodically on the PZ but I don't feel any less depressed on the Cym. And I hate the anxiety more than anything (almost.)

> Anyone have any experience with this?I had a *little* increase in feeling a little anxious the first 2-3 weeks, also a little trouble getting to sleep, but after that, no problem with anxiety. My complaints were amotivation and a little weight gain, which I am countering now with 150mg Wellbutrin XL in the a.m.

We really are soo different. It is so frustrating. I have terrible amotivational syn. with Prozac which is one of the reasons I tried Cym. I also tried Wellb. for it but became anxious and more depressed.
I use Provigil now for a bit of motivation. It helps a bit but I end up with a very restless energy and get a lot of vacuuming done! Not exactly what I was hoping for
I've also tried nortriptiline and adderall which both just made me anxious.Anybody had any success countering the amotivational syndrome?
This is the end of the thread.
