Hi. I take it 30mg 2 times a days. Would it better spreading the dosing more say 3 or 4 times?
What is the best time to take it? or is it very individual?
Ed_uk: never knew you are a pharmacist, I must say I always find your advice helpful and prof!
Still looking for some way to help the anorgasma. I came across Cyproheptadine (Periactin). Unfortunately not available in Norway or at least must be acquired by spesial request to the drug administration in Oslo (Same way I got Nardil) but with this one I am not sure I have a basis. Maybe if the request is done by my doctor and psychiatrsit and the fact that while on Nardil many options are just impossible (Buspar, Seegiline...)
Is this Periactin problematic at all that they would be reserved? What is it taken for? Not dangerous with Nardil?
I got the anorgasmia at 60mg and just couple of days a go. BTW I been on Nardil for only 2 weeks and 2 days. I was just counting wrongly!
Regards,
Ted.

Hi Ted!
I posted to you above but you didn't reply!
I'd try taking 15mg Nardil four times a day if I were you. The effects of Nardil on MAO are prolonged but its effects on GABA transaminase might not be. It has a short half life.
>Ed_uk: never knew you are a pharmacist, I must say I always find your advice helpful and prof!
LOL thanks but I'm not a pharmacist, I'm a student!
>Still looking for some way to help the anorgasma.
I think you should give it time, anorgasmia is hardly a fatal condition! It's likely to pass in a few months anyway. I haven't had a good orgasm for six months - I can only have good orgasms while I'm on an SSRI, I stopped citalopram 60mg six months ago.

Oops, maybe that was a bit harsh, sorry. You DO need to be patient though, I suspect it will pass.
Good luck,
Ed.

I used to take my 60mg spread out over 4 doses, approximately every six hours. Now I take two pills first thing in the morning and then the other two at eight hour intervals. Not sure why I started doing that, except maybe because I went back up to 60 mg from 45mg and I really liked the 3x a day dose pattern. I haven't noticed much of a difference. Maybe I'll go back to 4x a day and see if I notice anything.
As far as anorgasmia..well, I am female, and I think anecdotally it's not as severe for females, but I have noticed it does go away. It comes back when I increase my dose, but then goes away again. But it takes a few months to go away. Hang in there. :(

Do you mean that if i decide to go up from 60mg to 75mg one day i will need to wait again another 4 months? If it's so then i should start taking 75mg already now!

Maybe it's becaus I have been having this for only 4 days now. What about next week, two weeks from now?! Well I might be having good time and life outside this shell to the degree I have no time for Mr. Happy :)
I think it looked so awful because it wasn't long since I been on the selegiline which was, well, explosive!
Not sure what you're suffering from or have suffered from. But if it was maily depression then it's undrstandable that you have reduced desire. If you have no whatsoever anxiety disorder I would suggest the selegiline.
The hypotension just went away! I mean the dizziness went away. Might be because I am drinking more now and taking some extra salt. My sitting BP is around 110/60
-70 compared to 100/60- 70 standing but the healt at night can go down to 60 even 58!

Hi.
> I got the anorgasmia at 60mg and just couple of days a go.
With Nardil, I found that the ability to orgasm can take 2-3 months to return. This has been reported by many people, and should be a more desireable outcome than being anorgasmic indefinitely as can happen with SSRIs.
Good luck.

I don't notice reduced efficacy coinciding with the side effects going away. I also get urinary retention, altough that goes away faster than anorgasmia. And Scott's estimate of 2-3 months might be more accurate. But I'm afraid that going to 75 mg might indeed bring out that SE again, sorry to say.
With Nardil, it's always been a cost/benefit thing for me between the SE's and the relief from depression. It's finally getting to the point where the weight gain might be getting too much for my self esteem and my overall health as compared to the benefits I get in depression relief. I started Topamax to try to counter that, but if it doesn't help, I will switch from Nardil to Parnate. If that doesn't work, well....not sure. In my case the anorgasmia is not as big of a cost to pay as it seems to be for others. But that could be because there are other issues with that I don't need to go into here.
How is it doing for you with relief of symptoms?

I think it's a bit warly to say much about efficacy. From my previous trials with other medicines I have learnet to be patient before saying something for sure. I just got the side effects copule of days a ago so this might be an indication that full MAO inhibition has been achieved. ANd I think you know, it's not this per se that would help but ratther the neuronal changes that occur as result of that with time. I have read that efficacy should be evaluated 4 weeks after going on the 60mg. This means 3 weeks from now.But I must say I feel something positive coming in the horizon. Hope I wont be disppointed.
If you don't have any anxiety problems i would highly suggest Parnate or Selegiline. They are activating thought but the side effects milder than Nardil.
Take care,
Ted.

Hi Ted!
>But I must say I feel something positive coming in the horizon.
Hey that's good :-) It can take longer than 4 weeks to eveluate the effect of 60mg though, I'd recommend staying on 60mg for longer that that. You don't want to be taking 75-90mg if 60mg would have been adequate, the side effects are likely to be more pronounced.
Best regards,
Ed.PS. Is Ted short for something?

I don't think you should take it until
you get an answer back from your Dr.
