Finding a good psychiatrist

Posted by Jakeman on March 19, 2005, at 0:48:16

Does anyone know of a website that posts reviews of psychiatrists, especially wholistic oriented doctors? I found a similar website (and a doctor) that lists physicians specializing in thyroid and hormonal issues. It has been a godsend to myself and a couple of friends of mine. Could something like this be started on Babble for pdocs? (Dr. Bob?).

here's the site I am referring to:

http://thyroid.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdocs.htm

I figure the more information the better, as this site has already proved.

Thanks all, Jake.

I second Jakeman, a review board for Pdocs would be really useful.

A good doctor is invaluable, as there are a lot of medioca ones.

Good psychiatrist is an oxymoron

Somewhat tongue in cheek. In my opinion the mental health industry is corrupt. The psychopharms make out fine, the Pdocs do fine it's the many many patients that are screwed. Many of you still buy into the monominergic theorys that are prevelent. One day you will see how bogus they are. There is not a great incentive to understand the biochemical causes of mood disorders. I am quite certain my particular type is caused by a low production of inhibin B. I first suspected this in 1987 and have not found a way to correct this or find some researcher to investigate this. So if I seem bitter, maybe you can see why. Millions of people will keep on suffer with many taking their own life because of the greed of the phamacuetical co's and Pdocs and the status quo. Best wishes

And its up to us to change things!

It may seem hopless at the moment, but at least thanks to the internet we are not as alone as we once were.

I'm sorry I deleted it already, but remember that post on rEEG? Well, an MD responded to it today and stated that we are reaching an era that to tx pts, something like this is needed. He used it and I think had 74% up to the 90' Success rate in treating pt. I try to look at my deleted mail and find the Link as my memory is not good and I probably didn't give the correct info. Fondly, Phillipa

Phillipa,

I had missed this thread, thanks so much for posting. The discussion and Dr. Hoffman's response are very interesting. Now if I could just find a good neuropsychiatrist who uses this approach!

Jake

Don't we all? I wonder where he practices? Maybe we should ask him. I wonder if he accepts Babble. I'll have to go look. Fondly, Phillipa
