Hi:
The Trazodone is, in my opinion through the experience, ... quite a 'strong/raw type of A.D.,' in comparison to newer class of A.D.s which have, in my view, refifned A.D.property. Partly, in my guess, ... the Trazodone is one of older A.D.s. or 'first-generation.' However, when I needed to replace for the Serzodone/Nefadozone due to a loss of its efficacy, the Trazodone saved me from going into the deep end. Then, at least I can say, the Trazodone is a good A.D. for me. However, in most cases, the Trazodone widely rx for 'sleep-aid,' rather A.D. For the first part of the Trazodone, I had sedation problem. However, that/sedation went away with time, ... but took quite awhile. Then, unless you are NOT able to find a proper A.D., I'm quite hesitant to suggest this med., Trazodone.

First of all, ... in order to get a good A.D. effect, you need to take at least 150 mg. before the bed. That's an awful dosage if you're not familiar with this med. Also, you MAY need to take some 'stimulant' med., like a small dosage of Wellbutrin SR to counteract its S.E.s, such as drowsiness, although I can not remember about memory problem from taking the Trazodone. I'm one of those who is NOT med.sensitive to take all different type of med., including atypical med., 'Zyprexa' and other 'potent' med. For that reason, probably the Trazodone doesn't bother me after all, but at first, I had a trouble, mostly 'sedation,' 'dry mouth,' and others(I can not recall in detail tho').

In my case, after three or four months on the Trazodone(from 150 mg. to 225mg. daily), my depression along with Anxiety started to diminish gradually, ... particularly I have NO anxiety whatever, after taking this med., Trazodone.

Thank you for your answer.

I even have with 50mg a prominent antidepressive effect. A problem is that thoughts are coming and going and I have more difficulty to concentrate. Perhaps memory is also a bit impaired (I am not sure).I have never taken the trazodone for a long time (perhaps 7 days). It has a prosexual effect.Interestingly trazodone <never> sedated me. I could never use it as a sleeping pill. After all I think trazodone would be a very usefull drug in different cases (the newer ssri are <not> overall better! Sometimes even more bad). Do you also have the thoughts coming and going, difficulty to concentrate?
Maybe i should take the trazodone for a longer time to receive a more clear image/impression of that drug.

What type of anxiety does the trazodone kill for you (which dosage daily)- generalized anxiety, social anxiety or performance anxiety?

Is the anxiety connected with depression?

Hi:
>>> What type of anxiety does the trazodone kill for you (which dosage daily)- generalized anxiety, social anxiety or performance anxiety?<<<

--- The Anxiety I have seems to be related with a depressive side of my Bipolar. Then, after my Bp under control, ... or with the Trazodone, my Anxiety is non-existence, ... but it took quite awhile for me to get this 'stable' stage.

Oh, ... BTW, I've been taking the Trazodone daily since last summer, somewhere around 150 mg. For me, 'too much' causes adverse effect rather than getting 'positive' effect. Then, it's needed to be cautious not go over higher dosage.

In regard to 'newer A.D.' vs. 'older A.D.s,' ... unfortunately, I am NOT able to take any of SSRIs, either my system does not need or simply SSRIs don't go well with the chemical of my brain. Then, my A.D. combo. is Wellbutrin SR 300 mg. and Trazodone 150 mg. along with Zyprexa 5 mg. and Lithium 300 mg., both of which have a 'booster effect' on my A.D. combo.

My dx is Bp with ultra-rapid cycler which is said to be one of 'hardest' cases in M.I., then it took years for me to find the right med. combo. However, in the end, I got 'my-old-self' back and fairly stabilized to feel 'normal' most of days. However, I need to be cautious NOT to overload due to 'stress' issue which causes either depressive or hypomanic episodes.

For me, Serzone/Nefadozone(max. dosage) before the Trazodone is a 'life-saver' due to my inability on SSRIs. Now, with the Trazodone, my Bp has been almost under control.
