Hi,
Has anyone here had success working with a neuropsychiatrist (or whatever the correct term may be) to treat their mental illness. That is, has anyone had a SPECT scan and benefited from the insight it provided?
I've seen Peter Mueller in Princeton, NJ, and yes, I know he's insane :) But I've decided to get a SPECT scan and listen to what he has to say. I figure more information can't hurt, and could only be helpful. Anyway, just curious if this road has lead to any place special for anyone. I don't suspect Psycho-Babble attracts or keeps many people who have had great success, but I figured I'd post to see if anyone has any thoughts to share on this. Thanks!

Hi Jon,
I know this is way after the fact of you post, but my brother has had amazing success with Dr. Mueller. He did have a spect scan and was diagnosed with TLE contrary to his past high-functioning autism diagnosis. He is now doing so well, before when I could hardly have a conversation with him that didnt involve his interest in something repeatedly talked about, and now he can start conversations with me, he's a green belt in tae kwon do! He used to have aggression, but now its all gone!
Hope this helped,
Laura

Hi Laura.
Do you know what medications your brother is taking?
Does he have to wear special colored eyeglasses?
Thanks.

Hi Scott,
No he does not have to wear any glasses, I have not actually heard of people needing to do this, what is the reason for it? The drug prescribed to my brother for his seizures is meridia, and then he is also prescribed adderall during the day and strattera in the evening. He may take more I'm pretty sure that's it though, I'd have to check with my mom who is in charge of all his meds. My mom has choosen to give him a lot of different vitamins too, Dr. Mueller claims he shouldn't need them but I can see a big difference when he doesn't take them. She gives vitamin B/B12, vitamin e, vitamin c, calcium, iron, and other dietary supplement vitamins because my brother is such a picky eater and won't eat to many different things.

Hi.

In the late 1980s and 1990s, Dr. Mueller would have some of his patients with TLE wear different colored glasses, depending on how the disorder presented. To my knowledge, he's the only doctor I know of who had tried that. Peter Mueller was one of the co-discoverers of seasonal affective disorder.

I was aware of Dr. Mueller's use of Meridia, but I thought he used it for depression.

There's an Alternative board here on which there are many, many posts by people who report doing much better when they take vitamins and supplements.
Thanks for the reply.
