Klonopin info u might not have seen

Posted by willyee on March 16, 2005, at 12:58:33

I came across this a while ago,its a description of klonopin i never seen before,it makes sense as klonopin always seemed like it was doing more than simply acting on gaba, how accurate is it,im not sure,im gonna paste the information now,i have the link and have to find it,but for now here is the info, anyone have any ideas how accurate this is.......

I did a search and found clonazepam:
Clonazepam was introduced in the US in 1976 and in
Japan in 1981. The mechanism of clonazepam's ac-
tion has not yet been established. With a high affinity
for central benzodiazepine receptors, clonazepam is
a facilitator of gamma-aminobutyric acid system, and
also increases central synthesis of serotonin,
dopamine and noradrenaline, and mimics the effect of
the neurotransmitter glycine. This is a combination
of effects that may offer antidepressive action.
Clonazepam has been recognised as a useful augmen-
tation (i.e. adding a medication onto the existing, on-
going drug treatment) for the treatment of
prolonged depression.

Its possable i mean it is a cns depressant, then again the only time i induced depression in me was when i took it alone.

Anytime i took it with a working or semi working AD it actualy served as more than a calming agent,it did indeed seem to have anti depressant actions......im just intrigued at how manys chemicals that snip i posted mentions,i dident relaize if its true that klono had such activity.

Thanks. Yeah, I hate it when links go down. I've had that happen to a couple of interesting pages that I had bookmarked for future reference. Oh well. It's kind of weird, though, that the info hasn't shown up elsewhere...

Best,
