I'm currently taking 300mg of Wellbutrin and 200mg of Lamictal, but would like to know how long it will take for them to leave my system if I stop taking them. I've stopped one or another or both for short periods of time (for various reasons), and didn't notice any real side-effects, other than depression. I'm depressed the majority of the time anyway, so I can't say for certain that it was going off the drugs that caused it. I hadn't realized until I read these boards that there might be problems going cold-turkey, but there seem to be many people who indicate that there are effects. Any suggestions as far as how to go off these would be great, but mainly I just want to find out *IF* I go off them cold-turkey, how long before my system is completely clean of them? Thanks.

Assuming your elimination rate is similar to those studied in the pharmacokinetic analyses for these meds, about one week for bupropion, and 1-3 weeks for lamotrigine. The latter exhibits rather a broad range of half-lives, so it's harder to pin down.

I'm not a doctor but I sure recommend just giong cold turkey off of both meds. I think you might be asking for trouble.
I would wean down off of one or both slowly. Or possibly just try eliminate one at a time.
Please be careful. I stopped Lexapro WAAAY too soon and it sent me for a serious loop.

Thank you both for your help. I guess I'll go off the Wellbutrin first and then wean myself off the Lamictal slowly. I guess I'll check out the other threads on the topic for more info on how to do that. I don't want to ask questions that have already been answered. Anyway, thanks again. Your responses really helped.
This is the end of the thread.
