Has anyone tried deliberately cutting back on effexor or stopping all together only to find that giving in and taking your full dose a few days after dealing with it was the best idea you ever had!?
I find that by trying to manipulate the varying levels of this drug in my system, I become a slave to being preoccupied when and how I'm going to do this from day to day. It's like I'm dealing with physical dependence like an opiate or something, except it is not a narcotic

From what I've learned on Pbabble and the new Withdrawal Board, all the medications carry W/D when discontinuing them. Fondly, Phillipa

I have done the exact same thing with Remeron which is similar. It's as if I forget how much the drug helps me at least twice a year. I cut back to 7.5mg from 15mg, feel great for a few days, get to zero and after about 10 days say to myself "why did I ever cut back" and resume again with 15mg. Remeron genuinely helps and causes no adverse effects for me but, like I said, every six months and.... Good Luck. JN

I guess I don't understand how they can claim these drugs aren't addictive when it is so advertly obvious that we become chemically dependent on them.
My mother was on Paxil for 18 months, after quitting cold turkey, she went insane and had to be put in the psych ward for 10 days.
If that's not detox, I don't know what is.

Sorry to interrupt, but I'd like to redirect follow-ups regarding quitting cold turkey to Psycho-Babble Withdrawal. Here's a link:
