Just curious what you're on it for, what dosage, and how effective you find the new Nardil for your condition? Thanks

Hi,
I'm on 60 mg of new Nardil. I've never taken the old version. I have atypical depression, and Nardil is the only med that has had a true effect on it. If only I didn't have the weight gain, I would be as ecstatic about it as Ace.gg

I knew Ace was the Nardil Champ! Makes me curious about this drug. But, I'm still not convinced. Fondly, Phillipa

Not to hijack the thread, but I actually am going to talk to my pdoc about possibly switching to Parnate in hopes of countering weight gain (really in hopes of losing some weight.)
Not sure how she will react.
I just ordered a new medic alert bracelet and darn it, if I decide to go off MAOI's altogether, I'm out a chunk a change.

Hi GG -
Why don't you think your pdoc will want you on the Parnate?I know some people who have added Topomax to the Nardil to combat the weight gain and sedation. It can also augment the Nardil.

I've been on Nardil for 6 months at dosage 75. However, I just started decreasing the dosage with the intent of going down to 45 or lower. The reason is weight gain and lack of energy for exercise. I have also heard that once Nardil has become effective it suffices to take a low sustaining dose -- so I will see what happens.
I take Nardil for anxiety mostly and it is effective.

I am on day 10 of Nardil (45mg) after stopping a short 5 day trial of Parnate (10mg). Parnate felt way to activating and I really felt detached.
So far I have to say it has had only a mild effect on my social anxiety. I am hoping that it will kick in soon! Anyone have experience for how long it takes to get the full effect?
The only real side effect I have so far is feeling kind of "hazy". None of the other stuff that I usually experience with ADs, actually it has increased my libido. From SE perspective it is far superior to anythin else I have taken.
I am not sure if this hazy thing goes away. It seems to be getting better, but I don't think I could continue taking Nardil if this continues. This would be a shame as I have tried almost everyhing else (SSRIs, SNRIs, benzos, anti-seizures, tri-cyclics, even ). I am still taking a bit of Klonopin but hope to ween myself off. That has been the one tried and true fix for my social anxiety but I started to get depressed taking it after about a 8 months.

And I've thought about Topomax, but the side effects of that one make me kinda nervous. Ironic, I know, given that I take an MAOI.
Thanks for your thoughts.
