Hello Dr. Bob:
There are so many people on this board who have to go through withdrawal and don't know how to go about it. Clearly their pdocs are not doing their job because they should be helping with some sort of a schedule.
Have you thought about having a board that deals only with withdrawal issues (how to wean etc.). This isn't the same as a substance abuse problem.
If we could collect resources it would help a lot of people.
Do you think this would be useful and that people would use it?

Yeah team!!!! A withdrawal board sounds like a wonderful idea. I had a withdrawal problem years ago with Paxil and am going through it now with effexor. Both times my Dr. said she had never had complaints like this. It wasn't until I came online that I saw that I wasn't alone.
I also think all prescribers should be on a board like this to see what is really going on with the medications they describe.

Moreover, I think it may be time to consider renaming the main board. It is not obvious that it is meant to be for the discussion of psych meds. All the other board names are reasonably descriptive.

Dr bob , I think it would be great to have a board for every kind of disease.
A board for Social Phobia,other one for OCD , another for Psycosis , anxiety ...........It would be excellent too !
So if one is looking for posts specifically aimed to OCD or Social Phobia, it would be easier to gather information

Except a lot of folks have multiple dx. Myself-PTSD, OCD, Depression/Anxiety,Panic Attacks. We would have to cross-reference each one. I'm not sure that would work. Do you? Fondly, Phillipa

Yes I forgot to add that , maybe another for mixed illness would be good too.
Or at least the board of Social phobia or Anxiety . I think it would be very useful

This issue had come up during the holiday season because traffic had picked up so much. I think this is to be expected because the season can trigger or amplify depression and anxiety. Traffic has fallen off since then. My suggestion at the time was to divide the main board into two:1. Affective disorders (mood disorders): major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, cyclothymic disorder, dysthymia, schizoaffective disorder, seasonal affective disorder, etc.
2. Anxiety disorders: social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, etc.
I think to divide the board up into more pieces will lose the advantage of being able to integrate these disorders into the spectrums that they are. To make even this division separates out affective disorders for which anxiety is a primary symptom rather than being a separate illness.
