Effexor Withdrawals- What Helps

Posted by Rosee on February 6, 2005, at 21:31:30

Hi. I am new to this group and tried to read through the effexor withdrawal posts....of which there are many. Glad to know I'm not the only one but sorry that so many of you feel awful too. I was hoping to start a thread of remedies .....something that helps. I feel so out of it right now that I'm too dizzy to search through all the withdrawal posts to see what if any remedies have been listed.

I have only been on 75mg a day so I had no idea I would feel this bad and although I feel bad and the effexor did seem to help my depression, I was very short tempered, forgetful,.....it wasn't a good fit but I've been on it a couple of years.

Right now I'm dizzy, I feel awake in my very bizare dreams, I feel like I am getting short circuits in my head and extremities, and just feel car sick all the time.

Any cures?

Ask you doctor for a few weeks supply of Prozac to take while you are discontinuing Effexor.

I found that getting a good night's sleep made a big difference during my withdrawal--benedryl definitely helps with that... Besides that, just take care of yourself. After the first week or two, it gets better. Which I know is still too long, but you'll make it through! Good luck!
