Has anyone found amantadine to be a useful treatment for fatigue?

I used it this summer for fatigue. It was strange, on the one hand I felt less tired, but more fatigued. How do I explain that one? Hard to--I could get more done, woke up quicker in the morning--was more able to get up and go; but also, felt a physical fatigue, and by 9pm I would be ready for shutting down both physically and mentally (I am typically a night owl, going to bed before 12 is rare; and I was overseas visiting relatives so I really wanted to stay up and visit and I simply couldn't).
I know that explanation isn't very helpful, but in a nutshell I would say it can benefit someone at least short-term if it is hard to get going on daily tasks, but it wasn't like a spurt of great energy.

Yes amantadine is a dopamine agonist. What I have heard that these seem to help short-term, but they poop out. I am not sure if mine stoppd working--my whole med regimen suddenly failed on me, and I dropped amantadine as I tried to add other drugs.
