COMING OFF SEROQUEL.....(MINI TANTRUM)

Posted by pretty_paints on January 26, 2005, at 6:51:25

Hi guys,

I'm coming off Seroquel, I'm down to 450mg/day. First of all I'm having a nightmare with ITCHING! My legs feel like they're on fire! I have got spots all over my chest, arms and legs. I've never had this before. I look like a big allergic blob.

Also I'm feeling really ill. I feel really sick all the time, have a headache and feel achy and cold :( I also am feeling quite down for no reason. I woke up today and feel REALLY low, and I thought "ooh why is that?", but there is no reason! Today's the same as any day a few weeks ago.

So what with itching like a big chimpanzee and feeling crap, I am not a happy bunny. I look gross and feel rubbish. I don't wanna show my doctor all the horrible spots and itchiness incase he goes "OOOH YOU BIG FLEA, GET OUT OF MY OFFICE".

ARGH. Also (not at all relevant I know, but if any girls have something similar I would like a lot to hear about it) I have noticed some horrible liney looking veins on my right bum cheek. Not big veins, just tiny little threadbare reddish squiggly lines. BOO HOO. I AM ONLY 20. Why am I having bloody VEINS on my body? I HAD A NICE FIGURE BEFORE ALL OF THIS :( Does anyone know what this is, or how you can get rid of it?

Also even though I feel sick, I am feeling starving all the time. I'm really enjoying eating food again, mmmmm.

If anybody has any ideas about what's going on, I'd love to here them! I know it's probably just general crappiness from coming off the Seroquel, but if anyone has any cheerful words, that would be appreciated too!!

Bluurrghhh. Oh I'm just feeling sorry for myself and having a bit of a tantrum. I'll pull myself together in a bit!

I've got Vanilla Sky on dvd, maybe I should go watch that.

How quickly are you tapering? Perhaps you should stay at 450mg until the symptoms disappear. You shouldn't have to suffer so much. Were you taking 700mg or more?

Seroquel can definitely exert a potent antidepressant effect in certain individuals. Don't underestimate this. Like any antidepressant, it is best to come off of it very, very slowly - a few months perhaps - to prevent a "rebound depression" that would otherwise occur with a quick taper. This might be why you are beginning to feel more depressed.

Argh. Okay, thanks Scott.

Also I am having a nightmare with OBSESSING. Grrrr. I CANNOT stop bloody checking everything. I have just copied about 10 CD's for a mate, and with every one I had to put it in the CD player to make sure it had copied properly, fine. But then I had to run through all 20 or so songs, for each stupid CD. I even parcelled some up before checking them, so had to ruin the envelopes by getting them back out and checking them..

grrrr

However, I have just made myself some nice tomato soup, so I think I shall go off and eat that.

I went from 800mgs to nothing in one night. I know its not a good thing. I was having a "possible" allergic reaction as it was making my throat close up hence why i stopped it so quickly. But i felt the same. Very depressed, very sick, headaches, all I wanted to do was lay down. Though i did not get the itch thing.

*warm hugs* I just wanted to say your not alone, coming off a lot of these medications can be so hard.
Take care.
