Lamictal seems to be the best medication available for controlling my rapid cycling. Unfortunately, it causes anxiety and irritability, even at low doses. It also makes me feel jumpy, like I have to keep moving. But without it I start cycling rapidly in about a week. Nothing else has been as effective in controlling my cycling and nothing else has even touched my bipolar depression. Right now I’m not on it, but it’s painfully clear that, I’ll have to start back up again tomorrow morning, very slowly of course. Has anyone had experience with these side effects and found a good solution? I wonder if there is a medication combination that I haven’t tried. I’m currently taking 300mg of lithium at night also, although I’m not sure that it does anything. I also take medication for severe chronic bipolar insomnia a lot of which can leave me quite hung over, which I don’t like as I really need my brain at work.
