Modafinil (Provigil) and Anxiety

A question to all anxiety sufferers who have tried Provigil....

What effect, if any, did Provigil have on your anxiety?

For me, provigil actually helped my anxiety. It actually seemed to augment my klonopin in that regard.

For me Provigil helps and hinders anxiety. I am more alert as to when all goes sliding and I can prevent going totally down by checking out for a while. The opportunity to spend more time to concentrate and be active is relatd to the increased agitation. Catch 22.

Are you taking an antidepressant or an other med with your Provigil?

I am taking Concerta 54mg with 50mg Provigil in the morning, 100mg Provigil at noon. 200mg together with the Concerta gave me tremors.

I don't take antidepressants now. I was taking Effexor for 5-6 months which made most of my symptoms worse. I have had great success with Lamictal except a rash and a severe lymphsystem reaction almost killed me. Then I tried Abilify which disabilified me with pain.

Doc wanted to add Strattera to the two other stimulants to keep me awake. I have more frequent seizures now and need to learn to prevent those from progressing.

If you have problems with seizures, it seems *very* strange to me that your doctor has prescribed Concerta (methylphenidate) instead of an amphetamine.

Thanks Dave1, I shall ask.
Seizures remain undiagnosed, univestigated and untreated. I was denied an EEG to rule out epilepsy. I was told they are panic attacks and I keep getting told I am to have fear. It feels like I am sinking away, I lose sense of everything around, can't understand if someone speaks and can't talk. They mostly only last a short time and I recover to previous confused, exhausted state. The worst one incapacitated me for 3-4 hours and took about 4-5 days to recover from. I can feel it coming on, I get dizzy, sickly, weak, then everything slips away.

I struggled in the beginning to control it and that caused anxiety. I've since realized I have no control over it, all I can do is trying to find possible triggers and prevent getting hurt by waiting it out.
