Whew! I took Effexor for my panic/anxiety issues...it gave me an insane irregular heartbeat, and numbness in my chest...called the Dr immediately, he told me to stop it for 2 days; I stopped and re-started; same thing...I wondered if anyone else had this experience?

For most folks, Effexor is the LAST thing you want to take for anxiety. Try a benzo like Klonopin or Valium, and keep the dosage as low as possible. Valium should work in an hour or so. Klonopin will take a lot longer, but you are less likely to develope tolerance with Klonopin. Avoid Xanax except for emergencies such as a full-blown panic attack.

I am on Klonopin .5's....was taking 4 a day; started 3 years ago, after about a year-maybe a bit longer, it started to not 'work' as well...when I first started it, I felt like a totally new person, relaxed, calm, nothing bothered me; I loved it. When it started to 'wear off', I was concerned so I cut down to 3 a day, now I am on 2 a day and cannot even 'tell' that I take them...they don't touch my everyday panic and jitters! Should I switch to a different benzo?
This is the end of the thread.
