I was wondering if anyone who has come off of psychotropic drugs has any eye issues? I have double vision when I shift my eyes back and forth fast. I am wondering when this might return to normal.

JACJ,
You wrote,[...anyone...psychotropic drugs...eye issues...?]
I have done as lot of personal study regarding your question recently. The effects of psychotropic drugs in relation to the eyes can be different as to what psychotropic drug you are referring to. The drugs that are in the family of drugs like Mellerill can have the potential of serious consequences to the eyes. What class of psychotropic drug are you referring to?

JACJ,
You wrote that you took BZD,APs and ADs...
In my study, I have found that all of those can have the potential for serious problems with the eyes. My main study was in the chemical called phenothiazine and the benzodiazapines and then the tricyclics and SSRIs. I have a very large volume of reports that could be of value to your concern.
Although the active matabolite could be the same in a class of drugs, each different drug could have its own spectrum in relation to your concern. In order to simplfy our discussion, could you give the spacific drugs?
Your concern was as to the potential for future problems with your eyes.If you are you still taking any of them, that could be different than if you have discontinued them.

Lou,
I have been off the drugs for almost 9 months and take nothing now. I am wondering if my eye issues will resolve in time. Give me some of your research threads? Anything permanent to the eyes after one has come off the drugs?

JACJ,
I am from Cincinnati, but would like to visit Richmond, Va. for its Civil War heritage.
Here is another link that goes a little into what I am getting at to answer your question

I had eye issues before meds. Multiple vision horizontally shifted seperated everything into two with one or more echos. Each eye still is seeing two under certain light conditions, vision exercises corrected the seperation which both eyes together caused.
Double vision increased for me in the beginning of a trial with Lamictal, and corrected after about two months.
Effexor changed my visual comprehension, the most when I tapered off very slowly. I perceived several gaps per minute lasting a second or two making sort of a strobe like effect. That lasted about 4 weeks and was extremely aggravating.
I think it would be good to not enforce anything which throws alignment off. When shifting direction of focus do it slowly giving time to adjust. Blinking helps break the tendency of each eye to emancipate this way.
