Absolutely. I think out of all the drugs on the horizon, this looks the most promising, as its effects seem to be completely different to any other type of med. If it really can live up to the claim of benzo-like strength without sedation or dependence (the latter seems hard to believe) then I think this could knock benzos out of the water.

Always good to hear that AT LEAST work is being done for development of meds specific to anxiety issues. So much of the R&D, of late, has focused on treating anxiety as a cormorbidity to depressive states - a very common finding, but not always. The last "new" med I remember hit the market, specific to anxiety, was Buspar - that's been a while. Some are in the pipeline, but aren't close to being here, yet.
I like anxiety matters being thought about specifically. Of course, those substances can probably still be used a adjunct to other meds if comorbidity does exist. It's good all the way around.

Its seems they're aiming for a benzo-type effect which is refreshing, as there are not many drugs (approved for anxiety at least) that have this effect apart from benzos themselves. Good to see progress is being made, benzos have been around for a long long time now.

I've found Xyrem (GHB) to be the best anti-anxiety med. Way better than any SSRI/SNRI or benzo. My doctor and I are simply amazed at it's effectivness and safety. Since I introduced him to it he's had much success with similar patients. Not for everyone and there are lots of misconceptions that go with the substance but thought I'd throw it out there. Best wishes.
