Lamictal dosing schedule?

Posted by banga on December 10, 2004, at 17:03:24

I recently began taking Lamictal, slowly titrating up.
For those recently on Lamictal, what was the dosing schedule you followed? Mine seems so slow to get to 100mg; yet I know pushing it too fast increases risk of the infamous rash.
I wouldnt be in such a hurry, but I went from being on 4 different medications down to being on subclinical doses of Lamictal alone.
Having said that, it seems to be helping even at 50mg--much less anxious and depressed.

So How quickly did you get to 100mg?

It took about 2 months for me. Just in the last week or so I started 100 mg. I take 50 in morning, 25 at lunch, and 25 at supper. Just like bupropion sr, 200, 100, 100. I think it is better to space them out, because of less side-effects, like feeling stupid and makeing stupid mistakes.

I agree about spacing the dose out. I've been taking 100mg Lamictal at night for a few months, waking up with bloodshot eyes, feeling exhausted about 4-5pm, headaches and vivid negative dreams.

A few days ago, I split the pills in half and started taking 50mg 7:00am & 50mg 7:00pm. I'm sleeping better and my nightmares, headaches and bloodshot eyes have gone away.
