Hi Denise:
I haven't added trypt. to an SSRI, but I am trying it out, in place of Celexa. This is at the suggestion of, and under the care of my Pdoc.
I would be concerned about serotonin syndrome, so if you decide to add it, do so with consultation with your doc.
If you are interested in how I'm making out with the Trypt., you can check any threads here or on the alternative board, re Trypt. & me. OR you can babblemail me too!!
As of yesterday, I'm on 2000mg per day, plus 2mg melatonin to help me sleep. No side effects, yay!!
Therapeutic effect might be a different matter, though.

I saw a study that adding tryptophan to prozac caused increased nausea and anxiety (how could tryptophan cause anxiety?????) but I can't remember for the life of me where I saw it. I think a lot of the wholistic types actually use 5-htp or tryptophan to wean people off SSRIs, so I would think it would be OK to combine.
This is the end of the thread.
