Lexapro and Missing Doses

Posted by AdaGrace on November 25, 2004, at 6:48:45

Is it possible to feel crappy one day after missing a dose?

IT took weeks for it to kick in and now if I forget to take one or two in a row, I am crying, depressed and sometimes even suicidal? Is this possible or has it really NOT kicked in and I need to let it ride a few more months.

Started my 3rd month of dosage last friday....so only been on it two months.

Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know if this is the same, but I take lex and the weekend when I was decreasing from 40-35mg I became tearful and sad. This really was just during the transition. Perhaps that is some of the same sort of w/drawal you experience if you miss a dose? Thought I'd put it out there in case it helps.

Hi! It takes from 6 to 9 weeks for the Lex to kick in. Some patients require even more time to feel the full effect of the med.

Hang in there, and try to remember to take it every day, if possible at the same hour.

Good luck.

Don't let them fool you. Missing a dose will make for a *really* bad day.

Paxil is the worst cause it has the shortest half life. YOu can feel withdrawl from missing that one by a few hours.

Prozac has the longest half-life of a few days, and so you won't feel that bad if you miss a dose.

Lexapro has a short half life as well, I would make sure you make any med adjustments slowly.

Thank you to all, I am not missing doses on purpose, just forgetting and really noticing a difference. I have gone back to taking it in the morning so I can remember better. Even though I am sleepy in the afternoons, it is better than forgetting all together and having horrible days of self loathing and suicidal thoughts.

Thanks again,
AdaGrace
