Best Time To Take Effexor XR

Posted by TommyIsland on November 24, 2004, at 16:18:24

To combat the extreme somnelance from Effexor XR, what is the best time of the day to take it? I don't understand why I can't break this terrible sleeping cycle that I'm in. I am always wide awake and wired till late late at night and then I sleep all day long. No matter how I try to break this cycle, I am always extremely tired during the day but at night I seem to have more energy. Somebody give me some advice on what I can do about this because I am sleeping my life away.

and after the same sleepiness in the day and wired feeling at night wouldn't go away with time, I started taking the Effexor at noon. This helped with the midday sleepiness, but not with the nighttime insomnia. For that I had to add doxepin (a TCA) which is sedating at a low dose - 25mg. No chance of tolerance with it, it's very inexpensive and it helps with nighttime anxiety too - a major problem for me. Beats trazodone or any OTC sleep aids as it's not so drying on the sinuses and really works to keep me asleep all night. Perhaps you could try something like that to get your sleep schedule trained back to what it should be.

Good luck!
