I think you should have stopped taking so much Valium or stopped it altogether and toughed out a fair trial of Effexor. I agree that you have probably built up a tolerance to Valium and you need that "fix" each day when your depression and anxiety increases. My advice on an antipsychotic like Zyprexa or Seroquel still stands. That would be my first choice for someone in your shoes who is simply so anxious to even put a pill in their mouth and give a medicine the time it takes to work. I've said it before and I'll say again that AP's can work within hours and keep working. You most definately need a psychiatrist too. A GP just won't cut it in my opinion. Hell, some psychiatrists wouldn't even cut it for me.

I asked for an ap and my gp said no way...

im gonna wait till monday when i see the physciatrist and have a chat with him... might even get me in for some tests on my brain to ease my mind, cus i am going crazy at the moment, and my hole body is very tense..

thanks :-)

Valium is a poor choice for a depresssive.

Ask your Pdoc for Xanax. Its much better then Valium and doesnt make the depression worse while zapping the anxiety.
